Pure Water for your Hydration Unit

See my YouTube page for the video review on the Megahome water distiller.  This unit is a great way to produce PURE drinking water at home, ice and especially for your hydration unit. (And your Iron / humidifier) Many people spend money each week on bottled water or go to the water store with 1 gallon, 2 gallon or 5 gallon containers. After filling, you have to carry them all home and it's a weekly chore.
There are the Brita and Pur water systems that you can attach to your kitchen faucet which is much better than drinking tap water. The downsides to these systems is that are only a one step filter system and you need to purchase the filter 'consumable' when they are expired.
This unit produces 1 gallon of pure water in 3.5 hours and can be run run at night while you sleep as the unit shuts off when complete. Megahome also carries larger distillers if your consume more than 3-4 gallons of water per day. Listed below are a few different colors and container options: White/Glass, White/Plastic, Stainless/Glass

Gear

Do your hands or wrists ever hurt after 4+ hours of riding?  Mine used to until I started riding with the Ergon GP1's.  It's a must for XC Mtb'ers. I'm 5'10" and use a small which fits my hand perfectly. (Saves a little bit of weight too) If you are over 6' tall, you may want to go with a large grip.

Garmin GPS is a great watch for keeping any eye on your heart rate on those uphill climbs and for tracking every ride through Garmin Connect and with the Strava website.

Camelbak Rogue hydration unit is one of the best hydration packs for a 2 to 3 hour Mountain bike ride. You can stretch it to 4 hours if you conserve water. Just enough pockets and space to hold the essential equipment needed:  Mini pump, tube, tire removal tools, multi tool, keys, energy products and food.
CamelBak M.U.L.E. 100-Ounce Hydration Pack is one of the best for those long rides where you need to bring extra water. There are plenty of pockets to carry all of your essential items. It is a well thought out and designed hydration unit that will provide years of service.

Oldie but a goodie, the Panaracer XC fire pro.  I like this tire for the back and have been riding it for years.  Very reliable in various conditions, slow wear, good traction, moderate weight for a 2.1. Also listed are a few other tires that I have rode on with good results. (Kenda and WTB)

ProGold's Prolink chain lube is one of the best. Gear changes are extremely smooth and dirt does not accumulate on the chain as you lube and wipe the remaining fluid away. Triflow lube is a great choice for those shocks and rear piston to keep them operating in peak condition. It will not harm internal gaskets of your front or rear shock.

Garb

Nema Boost shorts are a great entry level mountain biking short at a great price. It's good to have 2 to 3 pairs of shorts that you can alternate so they wear evenly.  This bike short has a ripstop nylon shell that dries quickly and resists abrasion. When you?re in and out of the saddle, the rear stretch panel won?t restrict your movements, and zippered venting lets your crotch cool down after a sweaty uphill section. Nema added a molded three-piece chamois that cushions your nether regions without bunching and an Alpha-X liner for moisture-wicking performance. Fox has also been producing top quality Mtb'ing shorts for a while and have refined their process. They are very durable and will last for many riding seasons.

Underarmor tees. Sweat wicking tees are a must for mountain biking as your old cotton tees will collect sweat and stick to you like a wet mop. Most performance tees these days are made of a polyester hybrid that not only wicks away sweat, but they dry quickly and do not stick to your body.

The long sleeve version is an option for winter riding and cold days.

Protect your hands with Fox gloves. I have a few pairs of Fox gloves and have washed them countless times. They are durable, well produced and will protect your hands if you do lay your bike down...
